Man City want Wenger or Hiddink to replace Mark Hughes

After Manchester City were beaten by Tottenham on Wednesday, the rumours are flying about again that Mark Hughes is not the right man to keep his star-studded dressing room in check. The fantastic win against League leaders Chelsea only served to emphasise the inconsistency at the club, as that is their only win in the last eight league matches.

The Telegraph reports that City boss Garry Cook had approached the agent of ex-Chelsea coach Guus Hiddink about the possiblity of him taking over at the Eastlands, but the Russia national team manager intends to remain in his present job.
The Telegraph asked Hiddinks’s agent, Cees Van Nieuwenhuizen, if he had spoken to Cook about Hiddink, and he replied: “Yes, I did.
“But Guus is happy with Russia. Definitely. I had a call because I have been working with Garry for 12 years since we worked together at Nike.
“But I have received calls from all over the world about Guus. There has also been an approach from Juventus.
“He (Cook) asked me if it would be worthwhile having a meeting to discuss the future and what might happen next summer. But I told him that Guus was contracted to Russia.
“I said I didn’t think it was worth having a meeting. Guus is very relaxed. He starts his holiday tomorrow and in January there are elections for a new president for the Russian Federation.
“He is contracted until next summer but there is an offer for him to stay for two more years, and I think he will definitely stay.”
The Daily Star says that the person that the City owners really want in charge is Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. They quote a “source” as saying: Sheikh Mansour said: “They are looking for someone to replace Hughes, but there is nobody out there who is available now.
“The one they really want is Wenger. Marwood is driving this and he has a very good relationship with Wenger.”
They then go on to say that City would offer Wenger a fabulous contract to leave Arsenal, which goes without saying, but has it ever been about money for Wenger?
He has spent the last thirteen years building up the fantastic academy in North London, and at 60 years-old, would he be willing to go north and star again?
I doubt it very much. As Wenger said not long ago. He will die in the job!
