Gibbs – I don’t deserve World Cup place…..yet!

The young Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs has just been promised an extended run in the Arsenal first team, due to a small fracture to Gael Clichy’s back, but he is keeping his feet on the ground and admits that he hasn’t done anything to earn a place in Fabio Capello’s World Cup squad yet.
“At the moment I don’t really deserve to get a World Cup call because I have nowhere near the experience that a lot of the players do,” Gibbs said.

“I’ve a great deal to prove yet. I still have a lot of work to do to earn a place. I don’t want to be called up because of someone else’s disappointment. I want to be selected because I deserve it.
“Hopefully if I can get some more good games under my belt this season then there might be a chance – but at the moment I’m just concentrating on the club and what we can do to win trophies.”
Well he can start proving how good he is in tonights Champions League match against AZ Alkmaar, and after that he has at least another month to impress both Arsene Wenger AND Fabio Capello. Perhaps he could keep Clichy out of the Arsenal team after he recovers?
