Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs believes he can win a place in England's World Cup squad.
Gibbs, who has been named in the England Under 21 squad for this weekend's game with Portugal, has been tipped to break into Fabio Capello's squad by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
Capello has confirmed his admiration for Gibbs and the 20-year-old admits he is working hard to try and win a spot for next summer's World Cup finals by performing well for Arsenal.
"It's in my mind somewhere, but we've a long season ahead yet. Hopefully if I can get some more good games under my belt this season then there might be a chance," said Gibbs.
"But at the moment I'm just concentrating on the club and what we can do to win trophies. I'm still looking to take my chance when I get it, and I'm happy enough with the way things are going.
"At the moment I don't really deserve to get a World Cup call because I have nowhere near the experience that a lot of the players do and I've a great deal to prove yet.
"I've played a few games for Arsenal but still have a lot of work to do to earn a place.
"I don't want to be called up because of someone else's disappointment, I want to be selected because I deserve it."
