Arsenal v Liege preview

Arsenal can clinch their place in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League by avoiding defeat to Standard Liege at Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners moved to the brink of qualification with an impressive 4-1 victory over AZ Alkmaar earlier this month and need just one more point from their remaining two games.

Arsene Wenger will want his men to finish the job against Liege and secure top spot with a win ahead of the trip to second-placed Olympiakos in a fortnight.
The French tactician will also be determined to bounce back from the disappointing 1-0 loss to Sunderland on Saturday, which left Arsenal eight points off the pace in the Premier League title race.

The Stadium of Light defeat was the first time Arsenal had failed to score all season and they will continue to be without injured strikers Robin van Persie (ankle) and Nicklas Bendtner (groin) for Tuesday's clash.

Abou Diaby (calf), Gael Clichy (back) and Johan Djourou (knee) are sidelined as well, while goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski (knee) is not quite ready for a return.

However, Kieran Gibbs is back from a foot injury and Theo Walcott could start after making an appearance from the substitutes' bench at the weekend.

Liege are currently third in Group H and need to beat Arsenal to ensure they will be in control of their own destiny when they take to the field for their final match.

The Belgian side could be knocked out if they do not pick up a win, with Olympiakos two points ahead of them and travelling to AZ Alkmaar in the group's other match.

Manager Laszlo Boloni has a number of injury problems and will be without Steven Defour (foot), Cedric Collet (broken toe) and Mohamed Sarr (hamstring).

Serbian star Milan Jovanovic has also been ruled out with a thigh complaint, while a broken toe means Igor De Camargo will be missing as well.
