We must believe in each other - Arshavin

Striker Andrey Arshavin has urged his team mates to believe more in each other on the pitch, saying that the team needs to show more 'character'.

The Russian international commented that although Arsenal had outplayed Manchester United at Old Trafford, the character and belief from the champions were enough to defeat the Gunners 2-1.

But it's not all about flair and pretty passes, the result is the most important aspect of the game and Arshavin is hoping that any further defeats will be few and far between this season.

Arshavin said: "Arsenal play beautiful football. If I was in a team that kicked the ball long and I had to run, I would never smile. (But) In modern football you must get results.

"We must improve our character. When we played Man United this season, they just showed character and it was enough to beat us.

"We must have confidence in each other. We are very friendly off the pitch but we must be stronger and trust in ourselves a little bit more (on the pitch). We must believe more.

"The confidence is coming but sometimes it seems to me we don't have enough."
