Two Points Dropped

Arsenal threw away the chance of a fifth straight Premier League win as West Ham battled back to earn a 2-2 draw at Upton Park.
The Gunners had looked in complete control following first-half goals from Robin van Persie and William Gallas. However, Carlton Cole pulled a goal back before substitute Alessandro Diamanti netted a late penalty.
Arsenal took the lead after when Abou Diaby fed Bacary Sagna on the overlap down the right. From Sagna’s cross, West Ham goalkeeper collided with his own defender leaving Van Persie free to slot into an empty net for his sixth goal of the season.

Arsenal doubled their lead on 37 minutes when Gallas met a Van Persie corner and scored from five yards out. At this point it was a question of how many Arsenal were going to score with Cesc Fabregas bossing the game from midfield.
But West Ham were giving hope in the 74 minute after Diaby gave away a needless free-kick in a dangerous position. Diamanti free kick was good, but Mannone instead of pushing the ball around the post, pushed it back to the six-yard box where Cole headed in.
After a close call on a penalty shout for a trip on Parker by Gallas, the referee awarded West Ham a penalty with 10 minutes left when Song tripped Cole. Diamanti scored and we had thrown away a lead for the second time this week.
Even with that, Arsenal still have a great chance to grab all three points deep into stoppage time when Green somehow kept out van Persie’s header.
With the way the other games this weekend, the West Ham game was a great opportunity to close the gap on Chelsea and Manchester United. Instead we dropped two points and how face a huge game against Spurs on Saturday, that is tied with us on 19 points.
