Fabianski to get his chance against Liverpool

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger must be spending long hours agonising over who to put between the sticks against Tottenham next week.

The former guaranteed Number One Manuel Almunia was left on the bench at the weekend, as Wenger kept faith with rookie Vito Mannone, who started the season as third-choice keeper.
But Mannone blew his performance with yet another mistake which allowed West Ham to get back into the game at 2-0 down. Wenger is not giving any clues away as to whether that means his faith will be restored in Almunia, but now both of them have to worry about the return to the squad of Lukas Fabianski.

Fabianski was laid low with a knee injury in the summer and has now resumed training and is ready to play. He has now fully recovered from the surgery which has stopped him playing a competitive game this season, and is certain to star tonight in the Carling Cup game agains Liverpool.

“It has been a frustrating time for me because of the injury but it’s gone now and I need to look forward to the future,” Fabianski said.

“I want to get back into the team, fighting for my place really hard. I want to show my quality and, hopefully, win a trophy with Arsenal. I can think about this now that I am completely fit, which is the main thing. I want it to stay that way.”

If he has a great perfermance tonight, he will give Wenger an even bigger headache!
