“I expect us beat Birmingham comfortably at the weekend,” he said.
“Arsenal are really playing well with great confidence – and I have been particularly impressed with our attacking. It’s incredible. Tomas Rosicky has been brilliant since coming back from injury.“Robin van Persie is bang on form while Cesc Fabregas was absolutely superb against Blackburn, in fact it was probably the best game he has ever played for us.
“Arsene Wenger is quite happy with the way things are going – Thomas Vermaelen has settled in brilliantly at centre back and is also our leading scorer.
“And I must give Alex Song a mention. A holding midfield player is vital this season, and he has been solid and done really well when he has needed to. I hope he can keep it going for the rest of the season, because his role is key to our success.”
Meanwhile the veteran defender Mikael Silvestre also thinks that the “young” Arsenal side have now grown up enough to fulfil their potential, and he expects the Gunners to be challenging for the title this season.
“For the past few years the talk has been that Arsenal is a young side. But the players cannot stay young forever as they will be asked to deliver some day. I hope this is the season for Arsenal to deliver,” Silvestre said at the opening of a new Arsenal Soccer school in Dubai yesterday.
“Arsenal is a big club and everybody expects them to win trophies each season. Everyone wants to do well and to start looking at silverware all the time, so it’s frustrating when you don’t win anything,”

Arsenal can extend their winning run to seven matches in a row on Saturday, and they just have to keep on winning and putting pressure on the teams above them
